An emotional story that portrays the essence of living with a disability and the struggle to be normal.When warrior Roddy Grant first saw her, it appeared she was about to jump off a cliff! Rose MacDole was wandering the cliffs, glad to be alone when she heard him call to her so she ran back to the castle. Even since her father passed, her mother had presented her to everyone as deaf and dumb. But Rose could hear perfectly, she just could not talk.Roddy was part of The Band of Cousins who rescued children from the sex trade and they were in the area to see what they could find. But as he meets Rose, he is stunned by her beauty and feels sad she cannot hear or speak. He has his own struggles that almost take him down.Keira Montclair has a gift of bringing the characters and surroundings alive and makes you feel tied to the characters. There was so much to this tale that will tug at your heart and you cannot help but love Roddy and Rose!! Although part of a series this can be read as a standalone. But as I always say, why would you want to miss the other books in this series?
If you haven’t read any of the books in this massive series; I’d have to ask, “why the heck NOT?!†Seriously, this is a wonderful “seriesâ€, full of adventure, warmth, love, and a bit of the paranormal. This book dealt with Roddy & Rose. Rose is a beautiful young lady, who happens to be mute. Roddy is one of the younger members of the “2nd generation†of Clan Grant. This book is wonderful-not many sexy-times, so if that’s all you’re looking for you may be disappointed. I can’t imagine being disappointed with this book; but, to each their own. In a way I wish Rose’s “disability†did not resolve; how cool would it be for her to have a “service owl?!†😜
I have read several of Keira’s books and loved them all. Highland Lies was a wonderful read and I really enjoyed Robby an Rose’s story. It was well written, had a great plot and wonderfully engaging and well developed characters. There were a number of twists and surprises and of course an evil villain. Loved the paranormal element and the owl. Robby and Rose had very different issues to deal with but together they grew stronger from their experiences. I highly recommend.
I love this author!!! If you are new to her books, I suggest you read the series. They are stand alone books, but as you read the series you become part of the Grant/Ramsey family. You can’t wait for the next book to come out.This book is no different. You struggle with Roddy & his fear, and you celebrate with Rose as she learns the truth and becomes strong.
Easy reading, adventure, and true love at fist sight , I couldn’t ask for anything more. Seriously though, the author continues to write love stories about different members of a family that is easy reading but, continues to hold my interest. As soon as I finished this one I was ready to begin the next love story/adventure.
Five stars because of the strong plot and characters who were the most brave. I loved the two characters who managed to help each other and find love in the best way. I also enjoyed finding the other characters who are searching for the abducted kids. Can't wait for the next story. Loved all four of them.
Keira Montclair has written another excellent story of intrigue and suspense in medieval Scotland. This book is a good continuation of the series. It kind d of grAbs you and you can't stop until you have read the whole story. I would recommend it to anyone.
There was nothing I didn't like, this is one of my favorite types of books to read. It transports me to another place in time where things are so different. It makes me think about what I would do if that ever happened to me.
