This was a good follow-up to the first book. It added some family drama, and a new dragon / magic, which is always good. The story line where she cared about a light friend /acquaintance outside her immediate circle added heart to the story. Finding about about the unaligned rogues was interesting - I wasn't cure if I was looking at a potential children of the corn situation or a private alternative to the convocation. I like how that played out and continues to play out. I feel like there is a lot more coming on that front, some secret to reveal, but I'm not sure what.
Second book as good as the first
I really like the book and how it didn’t drag on the get to the point and story. Good read excited to get the next one.. Thanks
Great story with well developed characters and lots of action. The reactions are so real, so believable that the people are full of life. You don't have to read book one first, but I highly recommend that you do to help you understand the complexity of some of the interpersonal relationships. This story touched me deeply with the way family acted tin situations and the strength they shared for each other. Fight scenes were exciting and well written. Good for tween and up. Minor editing errors, so one star off for that.
As I said in my review of book 1 of this series, I received a free copy of book 3 in this series and decided to would buy and read books 1 and 2 first. Book 2 was better than book one, although I could easily discern what was going on with the older brother. It was just too obvious. But other than that it was a great read. Each book has a story that completes but there is an overarching story that continues from book to book. I can't wait to read book 3 and see what happens next!

Loved this book. Love this series. Can't wait for the next one. The author makes the legends seem very real and believable.
Great young adult story for my 13 year old daughter. If you like fantsy action as a Dad, it is fun to read and at the same time being able to talk about the plot with your daughter.
